1833 – The Prophet Joseph Smith receives the revelation known as the Word of Wisdom while living at the Whitney Store in Kirtland, Ohio, a dietary code found in Doctrine and Covenants 89.

1834 – The Prophet Joseph Smith stayed at Shadrach Roundy’s home at Elk Creek, Pennsylvania, while traveling to New York to gather volunteers for Zion’s Camp. (History of the Church, 2:40)

1835 – The Prophet Joseph Smith met with nine of the Twelve Apostles and taught them the importance of keeping good records of all their proceedings, to record the work of the Lord as a witness and a protection.

1839 – The Democratic Association of Quincy, Illinois, met again to review what had been learned of the needs of the Saints arriving in their city.  After their previous meeting of the 25th, they had met with several of the leaders of the Church to discuss the situation.  They wrote and approved a formal resolution to help the Saints, stating, “The committee believe that our duties at this time, and on this occasion, are all included within the limits of an expanded benevolence and humanity, and which are guided and directed by that charity which never faileth’ (History of the Church, 3:268).

1844 – The Prophet Joseph Smith mailed copies of his “Views of the Powers and Policy of the United States‘ to the President and cabinet, supreme court judges, senators, representatives, and principle newspapers in the United States. 1846 – A severe cold spell hit Nauvoo and caused the Mississippi River to freeze over, allowing many Saints to drive their teams and wagons over the river into Iowa.  For a couple of days, whole caravans of wagons could be seen crossing the river on the ice.  However, the ice soon broke up and the Saints had to wait until the great ice blocks moved down river and the ferries could begin operating again.

1941 – Leigh A. Harline became the first Latter-day Saint to receive an award from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, by winning two Oscars for the musical score of Pinocchio and best song, “When You Wish Upon a Star.’

1983 – The sesquicentennial anniversary of the Word of Wisdom is observed throughout the Church and at the Newel K. Whitney store in Kirtland, Ohio, where the revelation was received by the Prophet Joseph Smith.

      Hermosilla Mexico Temple

1990 – French Guiana is dedicated for the preaching of the gospel by Elder M. Russell Ballard.

2000 – The Hermosilla Sonora Mexico Temple is dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley.  It was the 50th temple dedicated or rededicated by President Hinckley.
