MARCH 3

1838 – The Prophet Joseph and his family are en route from Kirtland, Ohio, to Far West, Missouri.

1850 – Oliver Cowdery, one of the Three Witnesses of the Book of Mormon, dies in Richmond, Missouri.  At his death, he reaffirmed his testimony to the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

1968 – The first stake in Alabama is organized at Huntsville.

1991 – The first missionaries arrive in Madagascar.

1995President Howard W. Hunter dies in Salt Lake City, Utah, at age eighty-seven.

2002 – The Snowflake Arizona Temple is dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley.

2006 – After more than a year of construction and remodeling, the Visitor’s Center in Independence, Missouri, is opened to the public.

2007 – About 130 young single adults and their leaders attended the opening of the Institute Outreach Center in Tirana, Albania.
